Emergency Numbers
Police 110, Fire 119, Ambulance 120, Traffic Accident 122. These four numbers are nationwide, toll-free, answered in Chinese with rare English support. Save your embassy's consular protection hotline in advance: 12308 (from abroad +86-10-12308).
Medical Emergencies
Tier-3A hospital international departments are the best option for foreigners (Beijing Peking Union, Shanghai Huashan, Guangzhou Sun Yat-sen) with partial English service, registration fee 300-500 yuan. International hospitals (United Family, Parkway) have full English but higher costs (800-1500 yuan for regular visits). Public hospitals are cheapest (10-50 yuan registration) but language barriers are significant. ER accepts walk-ins 24/7.
