Booking Tickets and Beating Queues at Chinese Attractions
Why Book in Advance
China's top attractions use timed-entry reservation systems with daily visitor caps. The Palace Museum, Huangshan, Zhangjiajie, and others sell out during peak season — walk-up tickets simply aren't available. Booking ahead guarantees entry and lets you choose a time slot to avoid peak crowds.
Booking Channels
Official mini-programs/apps: Palace Museum, Huangshan, etc. have official WeChat mini-programs requiring real-name (passport) registration. Meituan/Ctrip: Aggregate ticketing for many attractions, accept foreign credit cards, available in English. Klook/KKday: Designed for international visitors, English interface, often bundled with transfers.

Queue-Beating Tips
-
Choose the earliest entry slot (fewest visitors in the first 30 minutes after opening)
- Weekdays have 40–60% fewer visitors than weekends
- Rainy days are ideal: fewer crowds, beautiful scenery, some attractions offer discounts
- Spread out visits to sub-attractions (e.g. individual Palace Museum halls) and avoid tour group peak hours (9–11am)
- Lunchtime (12–1pm) is the quietest period inside most attractions

Refund Policy
