The three pits have different strengths — Pit 1 for scale, Pit 3 for detail, Pit 2 for the restoration process. Visit in this order for the best experience.
Take Bus You-5 (Route 306) from the east plaza of Xi'an Railway Station — 1 hour, ¥7. Taxi costs ¥150–200. Avoid cheap day-tour packages; most of the time is spent at shopping stops.
Over 6,000 life-size warriors in underground battle formation. Front rows are restored; back rows are still fragments. Walk the full perimeter and shoot from the elevated ends for the most dramatic photos.

The smallest but most detailed pit — the command headquarters. General figures here have the clearest facial expressions and armor textures. Fewer visitors means closer viewing.
Mostly still under excavation — you can watch archaeologists at work. The Kneeling Archer (one of the star pieces) is displayed here.

Don't skip the exhibition hall after the pits. The Bronze Chariots and Horses are there — two painted bronze carriages with incredible precision engineering. These are originals, not replicas.
