Despite the name, the Tang Suit isn't from the Tang Dynasty — it's a modern Chinese garment blending Manchu jacket elements with Western tailoring, characterized by knotted buttons and a symmetrical front opening.
唐装的来历 | Origins of the Tang Suit
"唐装"这个名称源于海外华人聚居的"唐人街"。2001年上海APEC峰会上，各国领导人身穿中式对襟外套合影，这款服装随后被广泛称为"唐装"，并在国内外流行开来。
The name comes from "Chinatown" (唐人街, literally "Tang People Street"). At the 2001 Shanghai APEC summit, world leaders posed in Chinese-style symmetrical jackets, which were then widely dubbed "Tang Suits" and became popular domestically and abroad.
唐装的特征 | Characteristics

盘扣 — 手工编织的布扣，既是功能性扣件也是装饰。常见的有一字扣、琵琶扣、蝴蝶扣。 Knotted buttons — handwoven fabric fasteners serving both functional and decorative purposes. Common styles include straight, pipa, and butterfly knots.

小贴士 | Tips: 唐装最好量体裁衣——成衣版型偏宽松，定制的合身效果好很多。面料选真丝织锦最有质感。 Tang Suits are best custom-fitted — ready-made versions tend to run loose. Tailored fits look much better. Silk brocade fabric gives the richest texture.
